Spring 2014 Beauty Trends

Sheer Shadow - Hot Lips - Raw Beauty

I woke up this morning to bright sunshine and blue skies which automatically put me in a really great mood (even though I was feeling the tiniest bit hungover). This can only mean one thing, surely? Is Spring on the way?!

As much as I moan about the rain and the cold, I do love living in a country where we have all the different seasons. There's always something to look forward to whether that be pastels and florals hitting the shops again for Spring, lazy BBQs at the beach in the Summer, pumpkin spice lattes at Autumn time, or getting cosy by the fire in Winter. I love 'em all.

Today, however, it's Spring 2014 beauty trends that I'm getting excited about. Spring always comes with that fresh overhaul feeling, and I've decided to sort through my make up and pack away my Autumn / Winter bits and start picking out products that will be more suited for the coming season. Gone with the deep burgundy lipsticks, and in with the pastels! Hoorah!

I've chosen my favourite looks from a list of top SS14 beauty trends by Vogue, and shown you how I will be wearing the trends myself over the coming months.

London Fashion Week AW14 | Day 2 Outfit

TOPSHOP jumpsuit & coat
ASDA faux leather gilet
ZARA bag
EBAY boots
NEW LOOK cuff*
ACCESSORIZE necklace

Photos by Alice

Here's what I wore on my second (and last) day at London Fashion Week. Can you believe I wore George at ASDA to fashion week? You bet I did. The Topshop jumpsuit is a relatively new addition to my wardrobe, one of my friends wore the short version on my Birthday night out and she looked beautiful, so when I saw they did it in trouser form I got very excited! You know me, I can't resist a jumpsuit. It's actually got a pretty black lacy back which is so lovely but it really wasn't warm enough to go without layers. Oh, and yes, I did make the ultimate fashion faux pas by wearing the same shoes and bag on both days - sorry! ;-)

I hope you've enjoyed my fashion week posts, it's always a really inspiring time as well as being a great laugh. I already can't wait for next season!

London Fashion Week AW14 | Day 1 Outfit

RI jacket & trousers

ZARA bag
PRIMARK top
EBAY boots

Photos by Alice

Sorry for the minor delay on the Fashion Week outfit posts, I've been having some technical difficulties. Better late than never though, right?!

For the first day I opted for some high-waisted trousers with a fun monochrome print, paired with a simple black vest tucked in and my leather jacket over the top. Nothing too exciting, but it was something I felt comfortable in, and considering the weather was so terrible on the Friday it really was about staying warm and comfortable! I finished off the outfit with my huge tartan clutch bag from Zara, big enough to fit everything in that I needed, and the statement pattern added a bit of oomph to my monochrome outfit.

Stay tuned for my Day 2 outfit post... and read about my shows & highlights in my previous post, here

London Fashion Week AW14 | Shows & Highlights

If you follow me on Twitter then you'll know I spent the past couple of days on a whirlwind trip to London for the madness that is fashion week. I had an amazing time and am now home feeling very inspired about all things fashion and blogging, and already getting excited for next season!

I arrived Thursday night and went out for dinner with my fave girls Allie and Alice. We hadn't seen each other for a few months so it was absolutely lovely to share a bottle of wine and catch up! The perfect start to fashion week.

J. JS Lee
On Friday morning I got up bright and early and caught the tube to Somerset House to watch my first on schedule show, J JS Lee. There were lots of beautifully cut coats, in rich jewel colours. Think forest greens and cobalt blues. And for all you tartan fiends - don't fear! The trend is definitely here to stay into Autumn / Winter '14. There was much less red this time, with a more muted and monochrome take on the pattern.

 Napsugar Presentation

After the show I grabbed some breakfast at a cute little cafe in Covent Garden with Allie. Later we headed over to Fashion Scout where we saw the Napsugar presentation. I fell in love with a deep blue leather jacket, and all the models' gorgeous hair. The presentation was littered with comic book symbols and there were strong '60s vibes throughout. Very cool.

 Ones to Watch

Later we went to the Ones to Watch show which showcased four new designers' collections. This show was absolutely packed and we were all jammed in like sardines, but it was definitely worth it. The first designer saw a lot of interesting knitwear. A relatively muted colour palette, but some pretty cool shapes and textures. I was a bit disappointed by the next couple of designers, I didn't think what they brought to the table was particularly creative or interesting. I didn't get any good pictures either, unfortunately! However, the final designer was by far my favourite. An absolutely incredible collection of Asian inspired, elaborately embellished designs. It was a beautiful collection to view and I thought it was very inspiring and creative.

Pam Hogg

The final show of the day was Pam Hogg. By this point both my phone and camera had run out of battery, so these photos were taken by the very talented Allie. It was probably my favourite show of the whole weekend. The atmosphere was absolutely incredible, and the weird and wonderful designs were just fantastic. I love how Pam Hogg just has fun with it, and doesn't take it too seriously. The models looked like they were having a great time on the catwalk. It was just so fun to see.

I feel like I have definitely spent far too much money on amazing food and delicious cocktails this weekend. Time for a detox now I think! We went to Meat Liquor for dinner on Friday night which was definitely a highlight of fashion week for me! It's got a really grungy, laid back atmosphere, and I had a bacon cheeseburger with cheese fries (omg) and it was possibly the best thing I've ever eaten... and then we also had several cocktails each. Woops! And even after swearing I'd never eat again, we met up for breakfast on Saturday morning and all managed to devour a stack of pancakes each. Oh dear...

On the Saturday I only ended up having time to go to one show, Bernard Chandran. I was a little gutted as well because I had another on schedule show to go to (John Rocha) but it was so oversubscribed that, even with a ticket, I didn't manage to get in. A little frustrating, but by that time I'd had such a great weekend that I wasn't too upset!

I hope you've enjoyed this little peak at what I got up to at London Fashion Week this season! It's been a bit of a long post so thanks for reading - and stay tuned for my outfit posts!

All Saints AW14 Look Book

Just a quick post from me today as I'm traveling to the capital to spend a couple of days at London Fashion Week. I've got a couple of shows and bits and bobs to go to but I'm sure it will be fairly relaxed. I'm really hoping to grab a burger from Five Guys at some point...

Anyway, here's a few pictures from the All Saints AW14 look book. They're one of my all time favourite brands, and I've fallen in love all over again with their new collection. The thigh high leather boots, the sheer LBDs and the leather jackets, oh the leather jackets. Not to mention the beautifully cut coats, a very beautiful collection indeed.

Fashion Week | Street Style Inspiration

(All images found from Pinterest!)

It's that time of year again! I'm heading to London Fashion Week later this week and I've not given a second thought as to what I'm going to wear - leaving things ridiculously late as per usual. I thought I'd throw together a little street style inspo to give me the kick up my bum I need to get my outfits sorted. Looking at these pictures it's clear that a boyfriend coat or a leather jacket over the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans or printed trousers is totally my jam right now. I think I'm going to keep things pretty simple this season - monochrome colour palette, clean silhouettes, etc, and maybe a statement bag thrown in for good measure.

What will you guys be wearing to LFW? Or what would you wear if you were going?

New Look SS14 Event | Discover Denim

Some might say I'm mad, but yesterday I decided to brave the tube strikes and the terrible weather warnings and venture into central London. I know, what was I thinking? Well, I was invited to a New Look press event and lord knows I can't resist a sneaky preview at new collections. So I donned my raincoat and wellington boots (just kidding, obviously I dressed totally inappropriately) and headed into the cold and rainy city.

Thankfully I soon arrived at the warm and dry New Look HQ and was immediately handed a mini blueberry slushy and some bright blue candy floss. Lovely! The room had what appeared to be a launderette theme, with lots of blue washing machines as tables and little laundry baskets scattered around. It was pretty cool. Oh and as you might expect, there was a lot of denim.

I love this cute little denim and lace summer dress. I think it would be great toughened up a bit with a studded leather jacket and a pair of strappy black heels. Or equally you could pair it with a slouchy cardigan and some biker boots. Or really anything that you like at all, it's a great versatile piece!

Recently I've had my eyes pealed for the perfect pair of distressed, boyfriend fit jeans, with a tapered leg. I love how they're the epitome of casual style, but look amazing with a pair of heels. I spotted the perfect pair at the event and I cannot wait for them to make their way into my wardrobe. However, if it's a different style you're after then don't fear! I spotted skinny, super skinny, high rise, and of course mom jeans, amongst denim jackets, skirts, hot pants, dresses and even tops. Seriously, New Look are officially the masters of denim this season!

Black on Black

RI jacket & shoes

BOOHOO culottes

 PRIMARK top

An entirely black outfit, Sarah? That's different.

I saw these culottes on Boohoo's Facebook page a little while back and decided that I needed them in my life. They're a little out of my comfort zone but I suppose it's fun to challenge ourselves every now and again. I think they're a pretty cool alternative to dresses and skirts for date night or a night on the town. I just paired them with an embellished crop top and some strappy heels, but I think they would look equally great with a bomber jacket and some chunky boots for day time.

What do you think? Are culottes something you would consider wearing?

PS I don't know why I needed my car keys in my hand whilst taking these pictures.

90s Throwback

RI shirt
PRIMARK top
TOPSHOP joni jeans
ARK CLOTHING jacket
EBAY boots
SHOP DIXI & ACCESSORIZE necklaces

Today I'm channeling my inner 90s kid. Adding an oversized denim jacket and a plaid shirt around my waist to a simple outfit of skinny jeans and a basic crop top creates a totally laid back look with cool grunge vibes. By keeping hair and make up pretty and simple contradicts the clothes and creates a sort of 'pretty grunge' style that seems to be all the rage at the moment. It's like we're taking inspiration from the likes of 90s rock bands, but we still wash our hair. I dig it.

What was your favourite thing about the 90s? Do any of you like to rock this style?
